• Abe Aya

    Professor of social behavioral studies and director of the newly established Research Center for Child and Adolescent Poverty, Tokyo Metropolitan University. Graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received her master’s and PhD from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University. Has been a senior researcher at the National Institute of Population and Social Security and a collaborating researcher for the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development. Publications include Kodomo no hinkon—Nihon no fukōhei o kangaeru (Child Poverty: Rethinking Fairness in Japan), Seikatsu hogo no keizai bunseki (Economics of Public Assistance) (co-author), and Social Security, Poverty and Social Exclusion in Rich and Poorer Countries (co-author).
