• Sakaiya Taichi

    Writer and economic analyist. Born in Osaka Prefecture in 1935. Joined MITI in 1960, after graduating from the University of Tokyo with a degree in economics. Worked on the hugely successful 1970 Osaka World Expo. Made his debut as a writer in 1975, and retired from his ministry post in 1978 to become a fulltime writer and critic. Has served as special advisor to the prime minister and director general of the Economic Planning Agency. In December 2011 became senior advisor to the movement to integrate prefecutural and city government in Osaka.
