Ueda Makoto

Professor of history at Rikkyō University. Received his master’s degree in East Asian history from the University of Tokyo in 1982. Has worked to promote environmental conservation and restoration in China through the nonprofit group Green Earth Network. Author of Taiga shitchō—Chokumen suru kankyō risuku (River Failure: Confronting the Environmental Risk), Mori to midori no Chūgoku shi (Environmental History of China), and other works.
