Japanese Nuclear Power Plants

A4: 2

Since the March 11 earthquake and tsunami damaged the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant last year, the Japanese public has grown more concerned over the safety of nuclear power, and plants that were stopped for routine inspection and other reasons have remained idled. As a result, every nuclear plant in the country was offline as of May 2012. Two nuclear plants were restarted in July to help the country avoid summer power shortages, but as of September 2012 there are no firm plans for restarting reactors at other nuclear power plants.
