Dean of the Nagoya University of Foreign Studies, School of World Liberal Arts and professor emeritus at the University of Nagoya. Graduate of the University of Tokyo. Was a visiting scholar at the University of Oxford Wellcome Unit for the History of Medicine, at the University of Delhi, and at Donghua University. Author of several books, including Kitasato Shibasaburō: Netsu to makoto ga areba (Kitasato Shibasaburō: With Passion and Sincerity), Kekkaku to iu bunka: Yamai no hikaku bunkashi (A Culture of Tuberculosis: Comparative Cultural History of Disease), and Kekkaku no bunkashi (A Cultural History of Tuberculosis).
