• Hosokawa Masahiko

    Professor of economics at Meisei University and special advisor to the Japan Economic Foundation. Born in 1955, he graduated from the University of Tokyo before going on to the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. Went to work at what is now the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry, where he rose to lead the Chūbu Bureau, before heading out to work as a guest researcher at Stanford University and the head of the New York center of the Japan External Trade Organization. Arrived at his current position in 2020. Currently serves in an advisory position for a number of global corporations and is also an advisor to the Japanese government on security clearance issues. Makes frequent TV appearances and public speeches on economic security, Japan-US relations, semiconductor trade issues, and more, while also writing columns for the Sankei Shimbun and Nikkei. Author of works including Toranpu 2.0: Bei-Chū shinreisen (Trump 2.0: The New US-China Cold War).
