Inoue Makoto

Journalist. Born in Osaka Prefecture in 1961. Covered the imperial family and historical issues as a reporter for a national newspaper. Awarded the 2006 Newspaper Publishers and Editors Association Award for reporting on the “Tomita Memo” by former Grand Steward Tomita Tomohiko. Received the 2022 Japan National Press Club Award. Retired from active journalism in April 2024. Author of Hiyoku no shōchō Akihito, Michiko den (The Paired Symbol: A Biography of Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko) and numerous other works on the imperial family.
