Born 1966 in Shiga Prefecture. After graduating from Kansai University, began working as a reporter for Sankei Shimbun. Has won writing awards for his work covering the medical and sports fields. Currently a freelance writer. Author of the prizewinning Kobushi no hyōryū (The Story of Baby Gustilo) and Pinpon-san (Mr. Ping-pong). His children’s books include Niichan no randoseru (My Big Brother’s Schoolbag) and Gambare pinpon gāruzu: Hirano Miu to Itō Mima (Go Ping-pong Girls Hirano Miyu and Itō Mima). A world table tennis champion more than 50 years ago, Ogimura’s experiences abroad shaped his worldview and contributed to his efforts to usher China back onto the world stage and bring together North and South Korean athletes to create their first-ever united team at international competitions.
