Kanno Shiori

Lawyer and president of the International Humanitarian Platform. Born in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, and raised in Tokyo, where she attended the University of Tokyo before going to work as a prosecutor. In 2009 was elected to the House of Representatives, where she served for 10 years while working on issues including preschool education shortages, the imperial succession, constitutional reform, and human-rights-based diplomacy. Is now an advisor to the Parliamentary Association For Human Rights Diplomacy and the Japan Coordinator of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China. Author of works including Rikkenteki kaiken (A Constitutionalist Take on Amending the Constitution).
