Kobayashi MikiKOBAYASHI Miki
Born in Ibaraki Prefecture in 1975. After graduating from Kōbe University, became a reporter in 2000 for the Kabushiki Shimbun, a daily securities newspaper, where she worked in the securities and economics department. The following year, she moved to the Mainichi Shimbun to work as an editorial researcher for the Mainichi magazine Economist. Has been a freelance journalist since 2007. She has made writing about employment issues her lifework, covering such topics as the generation of young workers hard hit by the “employment ice age,” and writing in-depth reports on employment issues in the fields of childcare and medicine. Her published reports include Rupo kango no shitsu (The Quality of Nursing), Rupo hoiku hōkai (The Collapse of Childcare), and Rupo hoiku kakusa (The Childcare Disparity).
