    Chief economist of the Economic Research Department at Dai-ichi Life Research Institute. Born in July 1967 in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Graduated from the Department of Economics of the Yokohama National University in March 1990. Joined the Bank of Japan in April 1990 to work in the Research and Statistics Department and the Public Relations Department. Joined Dai-ichi Life Research Institute in August 2000 and became chief economist in April 2011. Specializes in monetary policy, fiscal policy, financial markets, and economic statistics. Publications include Hontō wa dō na no? Nihon Keizai—zokusetsu o kutsugaesu 64 no shiten (What is it really like? Sixty-four points for overturning common beliefs about Japan’s economy).
