Kuroiwa Masakazu

Photographer specializing in scenery across Japan, especially of islands. Born in Wakayama Prefecture in 1982, began traveling around Southeast Asia at age 18, and later spent an extended period documenting the lives of mountainous ethnic minority groups in Yunnan Province, China. Began photographing Japan’s islands after being captivated by a festival in Kamishima, Mie Prefecture. Has made some 1,000 visits to more than 350 islands. Website: http://kuroiwamasakazu.com
