Mizoguchi Noriko
Professor at the Japan Women’s College of Physical Education, where she teaches sociology of sport. Silver medalist in women’s 52 kilo jūdō event at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Born in Shizuoka Prefecture in 1971. From 2002 to 2004 she was the first Japanese woman to coach the French Olympic jūdō team. In 2015 completed a doctorate at the University of Tokyo. Previously taught at the Shizuoka University of Art and Culture. Publications include Nihon no jūdō, Furansu no jūdō (Japanese Jūdō, French Jūdō) and Sei to jū: Joshi jūdō-shi kara tou (Gender and Pliability: Perspectives from the History of Women’s Jūdō).
