Obara KazushigeOBARA Kazushige

Professor at the University of Tokyo’s Earthquake Research Institute. He received his master’s degree and PhD in geophysics from Tohoku University. Served as head of the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention (NIED) prior to taking his current position in 2010. Head of the Earthquake Research Institute from 2015 to 2019. Chair of the Seismological Society of Japan since 2020.
