    President of Kyoto Seika University. Born in the Republic of Mali in 1966. Studied in China at Beijing Language and Culture University and Southeast University before coming to Japan in 1991. Earned his engineering doctorate in the fields of architecture and architecture planning from Kyoto University. Specializes in the influence that spaces have on people and communities. Activities include helping revitalize Kyoto’s traditional townhouses. Took Japanese citizenship in 2002. Was a professor and head of the humanities department at KSU prior to being appointed president in April 2018.
