• Sasaki Tomoyuki

    Associate professor of Japanese studies at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Born in 1973. Sasaki’s specialization is history and cultural studies. He earned his MA from Kobe City University of Foreign Studies, and his PhD in History from the University of California, San Diego. He has been in his current position since 2016. His publications include Japan’s Postwar Military and Civil Society: Contesting a Better Life and Cinema of Discontent: Representations of Japan’s High-Speed Growth (London: Bloomsbury Academic, 2015). He has also contributed a chapter entitled “Jieitai to shimin shakai” (The Self-Defense Forces and Civil Society) to Shakai no naka no guntai, guntai to iu shakai (The Military in Society/Military Society).
