• Takahata Sachi

    Associate professor of international relations since 2011 at the University of Shizuoka, where she specializes in urban sociology and issues involving foreign residents, particularly from the Philippines, in Japan. Born in Osaka in 1969. Did graduate studies at the Osaka University of Foreign Studies before earning her doctorate in literature at Osaka City University. Since 1993, has also served as a court interpreter in some 500 trials; she is an instructor in the basic training program for interpreters operated by the court system. Coauthor of the 2016 Saiban’in saiban jidai no hōtei tsūyakunin (Court Interpreters in the Age of Lay Judge Trials).
