Tsukamoto Sōichi
Professor at J. F. Oberlin University since 2019. Spent the previous 30 years at NHK reporting on Korean Peninsula issues in the International Press Bureau. Coverage included the 2002 Japan–North Korea summit, Yokota Megumi’s husband’s press conference in 2006, and the 2012 inauguration of Kim Jong-un in Pyongyang. Also investigated the former residence where Japanese abductees lived during the 1990s. After serving as Seoul Bureau chief, became editor-in-chief of NHK’s Ohayō Nippon, the flagship morning news show.
