Uezato TakashiUEZATO Takashi

Historian of the Ryūkyū islands and director of Urasoe City Library, Okinawa. Born in Nagano Prefecture in 1976 and grew up in Okinawa. Completed a master’s degree at Waseda University. Previously worked as a researcher in the Institute of Okinawan Studies at Hōsei University. Has published numerous books introducing the history and culture of Okinawa to a general readership. Served as a historical consultant for the 2011 NHK drama Tempesuto (The Tempest), set during the final years of the Ryūkyū Kingdom.
