    Writer. Born in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture, in 1962. Graduated from Keiō University. Writes about travel in nonfiction, diary, essay, and other formats. Awarded the Shōgakukan Nonfiction Prize for her 2012 book, Yūjin Sumisu—Minamata ni sasageta shashinka no 1,100 nichi (W. Eugene Smith: A Photographer Devotes 1,100 Days to Minamata). Major titles include Hakone Fujiya Hoteru monogatari (The Hakone Fujiya Hotel Story) and Aman Densetsu—Ajian rizōto tanjō hiwa (The Aman Legend: Secret Tales Behind the Birth of Asian Resorts).
