After the departing ceremony at Osaka Station, the first train left at 10:20 a.m., starting its two-day trip that would end at Shimonoseki Station in Yamaguchi Prefecture on Sunday afternoon.

During the two days, passengers will visit sightseeing areas including the Kinosaki hot spring resort in Hyōgo Prefecture.

Mizukaze was conceptually designed as "a hotel rolling through the beautiful Japanese landscape." JR West offers a two- or three-day ride through the western Japan areas of Kansai, San'yō and San'in.

The moss-green 10-car train has observation decks. The wood-grain interior is decorated with traditional crafts from regions which the train runs through, and the dining car serves cuisine using locally produced foods.
