Abe Cabinet Public Support Rebounds to 36%: Jiji Poll (News)
Tokyo, Aug. 10 (Jiji Press)—Public support for Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzō's cabinet rebounded 6.7 percentage points in August from a month before to 36.6%, after falling below 30% in the previous month, a Jiji Press survey revealed Thursday.
The higher approval rating for the Abe cabinet is believed to be partly due to the prime minister's reshuffle of his cabinet and the ruling Liberal Democratic Party leadership team on August 3, experts said.
The disapproval rating for the Abe cabinet fell 4.5 points to 44.1%, according to the latest survey, conducted over four days through Sunday.
As a result, the approval rating slipped below the disapproval rating for the second straight month.
In the previous month's poll, the approval rating plunged 15.2 points to 29.9%, slipping below 30% for the first time since Abe's current administration began in December 2012.[Copyright The Jiji Press, Ltd.]
