Premium Versions of Standard Sweets Popular in Japan (News)
Tokyo, Oct. 5 (Jiji Press)—Premium versions of ever-popular sweets from major confectionery makers have been drawing keen attention in Japan.
Such upgraded products, made with specially selected ingredients, are sold at limited locations including department stores.
Many people buy such snacks for themselves as treats to celebrate work achievements or on other happy occasions, or as gifts when visiting someone.
While the Japanese confectionery market is shrinking on the back of the falling number of children and the aging of the population, snack makers are focusing on high-class products to attract demand from adults.
