Ise Jingū Shikinen Sengū
(Ise, Mie Prefecture, every 20 years)

At Ise Jingū, all the main shrine buildings are rebuilt from scratch every 20 years, along with the robes and sacred objects within the shrine precincts, before the spirit of the sun goddess is reintroduced to the new buildings. The ceremony dates back to the year 690.
