[2017.11.24]

Tokyo, Nov. 22 (Jiji Press)—The Tokyo Metropolitan Government said Wednesday that Shan Shan (Xiang Xiang according to the Chinese pronunciation of her name), a giant panda born in Tokyo’s Ueno Zoo in June, will be shown to the public for the first time on December 19.

Until the end of next January, only those chosen by lot will be allowed to see Shan Shan with her mother, Shin Shin. The viewing time will be limited.

The zoo in Taitō, Tokyo, judged it can show Shan Shan to the public after the cub’s steady growth. The panda now weighs over 10 kilograms.

Fukuda Yutaka, head of the zoo, expressed hope that viewers will see Shan Shan and Shin Shin and feel happy.

The daily number of viewers will be limited to some 2,000 per day until the end of January, for the health of the two pandas.
