Two Star Akita Dogs Enjoy Their Daily Visit to the Park

Guide to Japan Travel Lifestyle

Gin (with a hard “g”) and Kurobē, both male, are the star dogs at the Akita Dog Preservation Society headquarters in Ōdate, Akita Prefecture. Both have big, fluffy tails. Every day they walk to Keijō Park, located next to the headquarters building. When the sunlight is strong, they take a break in the shade. Gin twitches his nose to catch the early summer fragrances in the park. Kurobē sports a flowery crown made for a canine prince.

Ōdate has become a popular destination for domestic and international tourists. Gin and Kurobē are waiting for you there.
