URGENT: Japan spokesman says N. Korea attempted to launch satellite Wed.

Japan’s top government spokesman said Thursday that North Korea attempted to launch a satellite the previous day but was unsuccessful.

At a news conference, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said the North Korean launch violated U.N. Security Councils resolutions as it used ballistic missile technology.
