URGENT: Japan’s September core consumer prices up 2.8% on year

Japan’s core consumer prices rose 2.8 percent in September from a year ago, remaining above the Bank of Japan’s 2 percent target for the 18th straight month, government data showed Friday.
The pace of increase in the nationwide core consumer price index, excluding volatile fresh food items, slowed from 3.1 percent in August.
