Japan's household spending in December fell 0.6 percent from a year earlier for the first decrease in three months, government data showed Friday. Spending by households with two or more people in real terms was 315,007 yen ($2,980), the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said. Household spending is a key indicator of private consumption, which accounts for more than half of Japan's gross domestic product.
