Japan's March core consumer prices fall 0.1% on year

Japan's core consumer prices dropped 0.1 percent in March from a year ago, government data showed Friday. Nationwide core consumer prices, excluding volatile fresh food items, marked the eighth straight month of decline, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. In February, core CPI was down 0.4 percent. Japan's core CPI was down 0.4 percent in fiscal 2020 that ended in March, the first decline in four years.
