Japan household spending up 13% on year in April

Japan's household spending rose 13.0 percent in April from a year earlier for the second straight month of increase, the government said Friday. Average spending by households with two or more people in real terms was 301,043 yen ($2,700), the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said. Household spending is a key indicator of private consumption, which accounts for more than half of Japan's gross domestic product.
