Japan logs current account surplus of 1.67 tril. yen in Aug.

Japan logged a current account surplus of 1.67 trillion yen ($15 billion) in August, remaining in the black for the 86th straight month, the Finance Ministry said Friday. Among key components, the country had a goods trade deficit of 372.4 billion yen and a services trade deficit of 195.0 billion yen, according to the ministry's preliminary report. Primary income, which reflects returns on overseas investments, recorded a surplus of 2.43 trillion yen.
