Japan household spending down 1.9% on year in Sept.

Japan's household spending fell a real 1.9 percent in September from a year earlier, dropping for the second straight month, the government said Friday. Average spending by households with two or more people was 265,306 yen ($2,330), the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said. Household spending is a key indicator of private consumption, which accounts for more than half of Japan's gross domestic product.
