URGENT: Toshiba proposes 2-way split, change from initial plan

Toshiba Corp. said Monday it plans to divide into two entities instead of three, as initially planned, amid opposition from some of its stakeholders. Toshiba, a Japanese household name with a long history, said in November that it will break up into three companies -- two spinoffs that will each focus on infrastructure and devices and a third that will own a stake in flash-memory chip company Kioxia Holdings Corp.
