Major Japanese Automakers Up Jan.-June Domestic Output by 0.3 Pct

Tokyo, July 27 (Jiji Press)--Domestic production by eight major Japanese automakers in January-June inched up 0.3 pct from a year earlier to total 4,614,616 units, reflecting brisk sales of new models, according to data released by the companies on Friday.

Mazda Motor Corp. <7261> and Honda Motor Co. <7267> posted 9.9 pct and 4.1 pct rises, respectively, with Mazda's CX-5 sport utility vehicle and Honda's N-Box minivehicle attracting strong demand.

Toyota Motor Corp.'s <7203> output dropped by 0.1 pct and Nissan Motor Co.'s <7201> by 9.5 pct.

The eight automakers' combined overseas production rose 1.7 pct to 9,900,150 units as they expanded local production.

Overseas output hit new record highs at Honda, Mazda, Suzuki Motor Corp. <7269> and Daihatsu Motor Co.
