Tokyo, Aug. 10 (Jiji Press)--Sales of used vehicles in Japan in July rose 1.5 pct from a year before to 314,144 units, up for the first time in two months, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association said Friday.

The growth apparently came as domestic inventories increased due to a drop in vehicle exports.

Sales of passenger cars increased 0.9 pct to 273,412 units, marking the first rise in two months, the association said.

Sales of trucks grew 5.8 pct to 32,881 units, and those of buses rose 1.2 pct to 1,085 units.

Minivehicles, equipped with 660 cc or smaller engines, are not covered by the data.
