Sapporo Securities Exchange Closed Due to Quake
Tokyo, Sept. 6 (Jiji Press)--The Sapporo Securities Exchange has decided to shut its stock market throughout Thursday after a powerful earthquake in Hokkaido, the Tokyo Stock Exchange said.
Trading in all stocks listed on the Sapporo exchange is being halted due to a blackout after the temblor hit Japan's northernmost prefecture in the small hours of Thursday.
It is uncertain whether the exchange can reopen the market Friday.
Of those listed there, 15 companies trade only on the exchange in the capital of Hokkaido. Among them are food maker Nichiryo Baking Co. <2218> and gym operator Rizap Group Inc. <2928>, which is listed on the exchange's Ambitious section for startups.
