Utsunomiya, Tochigi Pref., Sept. 7 (Jiji Press)--The hunt to find a 36-year-old French tourist is hitting a dead end after she went missing in Japan over a month ago.

The Tochigi prefectural police have dispatched some 800 personnel to find Tiphaine Veron, who visited Nikko in the eastern Japan prefecture for sightseeing, and are investigating her disappearance as a possible crime or accident.

The police, however, have not found any promising leads.

Veron's disappearance has become a hot topic in France, with local media giving it strong coverage.

Her family expressed their disappointment in an interview, saying they did not expect the search to take a month.
