H.I.S. Cancels Wedding Tours to Hawaii for 260 Couples

Tokyo, Sept. 28 (Jiji Press)--Major Japanese travel agency H.I.S. Co. <9603> has canceled tours for wedding ceremonies in Hawaii, affecting 260 couples, officials said Friday.

The cancellation was caused by a construction delay at the venue.

H.I.S. will return in full the money paid by the couples and make consolation payments. It has proposed alternative tours to the affected couples.

The venue was to open on Sept. 1. But the venue operator told H.I.S. in mid-August that the completion would be delayed, leading the agency to call off the tours at the last minute.

The agent started to notify the participants on Aug. 17. Some were slated to hold their ceremonies on Sept. 1.
