Tokyo, Oct. 1 (Jiji Press)--The total number of visitors to Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea in April-September rose 5.0 pct from a year earlier to 15,518,000, hitting a record high for the fiscal first-half period, Oriental Land Co. <4661>, the operator, said Monday.
The April-September figure went up for the second consecutive year, thanks to new attractions at the Tokyo Disney Resort facilities in the city of Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo.
At Tokyo Disneyland, the number of visitors increased thank to new attractions introduced in April to mark the 35th anniversary of the park, including a daytime parade featuring the Disney film "Big Hero 6," Oriental Land officials said.
Tokyo DisneySea lured visitors with a welcome water show by Mickey Mouse and other characters dressed in festive costumes, they added.
