Tokyo, Oct. 4 (Jiji Press)--Mizuho Bank will suspend automated teller machine services in Japan during the upcoming three-day holiday weekend due to work on transferring customer data in line with a computer system upgrade.

The suspension will start at midnight Friday (3 p.m. GMT) and end at 8 a.m. Tuesday. Cash withdrawals using partner banks' ATMs will also be unavailable for Mizuho customers.

Internet banking services will also be halted during the period. Monday is a public holiday.

The customer data transfer will be the fourth in a series of nine such moves by the unit of Mizuho Financial Group Inc. <8411>. The first round was conducted in June.

The number of branches subject to the data transfer will increase to 92 this time from six in the previous operation. A fifth round of transfers, set for November, through a seventh, scheduled for January, will involve data at about 100 branches each.
