Tokyo, Oct. 5 (Jiji Press)--Toyota Motor Corp. <7203> said Friday that it is recalling 1,249,662 vehicles in Japan over a hybrid system fault that could cause stalling.

The number of affected vehicles is the 11th largest in a single recall in the country.

The recall also affects 1.18 million vehicles sold overseas, the Japanese automaker said.

The affected vehicles, manufactured between March 2009 and November 2014, are from three models--the Prius, the Prius Alpha and the Mebius. The Mebius is supplied to Toyota's Daihatsu Motor Co. unit.

A component that controls voltage could suffer damage during sudden acceleration, causing the vehicles to lose power and stall, according to Toyota's filing with the transport ministry.
