Tokyo, Oct. 17 (Jiji Press)--Local governments throughout Japan unveiled the names of buildings that use KYB Corp.'s <7242> seismic isolators on Wednesday, one day after the company admitted to fabricating inspection data on some of the products.
The Japanese industrial parts maker said Tuesday that inspection data have been found to have been fabricated in some of its oil dampers used for seismic isolation and vibration control.
The Tokyo metropolitan government said KYB products suspected of failing to meet standards are used in facilities such as its No. 1 and No. 2 main office buildings, as well as the Olympic Aquatics Center, which will host swimming competitions during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike told reporters that she will think about a response once she receives a report.
"The matter could affect (the metropolitan government's) credibility if not handled properly, as it is an issue concerning safety," she said.
