Boy Arrested after His Grandparents Found Killed, Wounded in Saitama

Saitama, Oct. 19 (Jiji Press)--Police arrested a 15-year-old boy in Saitama Prefecture on Friday after his grandfather, 87, and grandmother, 82, on the mother's side were found killed and severely wounded, respectively, at their home the previous day.

According to the Saitama prefectural police, the boy, who is in the third year of junior high school, was held for allegedly attempting to kill his grandmother. He is suspected of cutting her neck with intent to kill in the living room of the couple's apartment in the city of Wako, Saitama. The injury was not life-threatening.

The boy has admitted the attack against the grandmother, investigative sources said. The police believe that he is also responsible for his grandfather's death.

The boy had been missing since the incident but was spotted by an investigator near Kawagoe Station on the Tobu Tojo Line in Kawagoe, another Saitama city, on Friday morning.

He carried a knife, which is believed to have been used in the attack, and blood-stained clothes were found at his home, according to the sources.
