Japanese Auto Brands Grab Top 4 Spots in U.S. Reliability Rankings
New York, Oct. 24 (Jiji Press)--Japanese automobile brands dominated the top four slots in this year's reliability rankings announced by a leading U.S. consumer advocate magazine on Wednesday.
Toyota Motor Corp.'s <7203> Lexus brand topped the list, followed by the same automaker's Toyota brand, the Consumer Reports magazine said in its annual reliability survey report. Lexus rose from second in the previous year's rankings while Toyota descended from first.
The latest rankings also showed that Mazda Motor Corp.'s <7261> Mazda brand jumped from 12th to third and Subaru Corp.'s <7270> Subaru rose from sixth to fourth.
South Korean maker Kia Motors Corp.'s Kia brand slipped from third to fifth.
U.S. brands ranked 18th to 28th, with Ford Motor Co.'s Ford beating its domestic rivals.
