Tokyo, Oct. 30 (Jiji Press)--Major Japanese automaker Honda Motor Co. <7267> reported Tuesday that it logged a group net profit of 455,101 million yen in April-September, hitting a record high for the first half of fiscal 2018.

The net profit jumped 19.3 pct from a year before thanks to strong motorcycle sales in Asia.

With the yen staying weaker than projected, Honda has revised up its net profit estimate for the full year to March to 675 billion yen, from its previous projection of 615 billion yen.

In April-September, Honda's global motorcycle sales rose 7.3 pct to 10,667,000 units, led by strong demand in Indonesia and Vietnam.

Honda's global automobile sales fell 0.3 pct to 2,551,000 units, dragged down by recalls of mainstay models in China.
