Softbank Group Posts Record Earnings for April-Sept
Tokyo, Nov. 5 (Jiji Press)--Softbank Group Corp. <9984> on Monday announced record earnings for April-September, citing growth in investment appraisal gains on the 10-trillion-yen Softbank Vision Fund, established with Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, Chairman Masayoshi Son said he recently visited Saudi Arabia and expressed concerns to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman over the murder of an anti-Riyadh journalist.
"It was a tragic case that should have never happened," Son told a press conference.
Son indicated his intention to maintain ties with Saudi Arabia over the Softbank Vision Fund. He added that it is too early to launch a second fund, partly because some money in the first fund has yet to be invested.
For the first half of fiscal 2018, the telecommunications and technology giant logged a record consolidated net profit of 840,103 million yen, up 718.6 pct from the same period last year.
