Japanese Woman Killed, Another Injured in Guatemala

Sao Paulo, Nov. 5 (Jiji Press)--A Japanese woman in her 20s has been killed and another, also in her 20s, seriously injured, in their home in Peten Province, northern Guatemala, it was learned on Monday.

The Japanese embassy in the Central American country said the injured woman was taken to a hospital on Sunday.

A Central America branch of the Jehovah's Witnesses religious group, to which the two belonged, told Jiji Press on Monday that it has identified the killed woman as Yurika Kimoto, 26, and the injured one as Chie Morosawa, 28.

An official of the branch expressed deep regret over the incident.

According to the branch, the two had been in Guatemala for about three years doing missionary work as volunteers.
