Nippon Flour Mills to Raise Home-Use Flour Prices in Jan.

Economy

Tokyo, Nov. 12 (Jiji Press)--Nippon Flour Mills Co. <2001> said Monday it will raise the prices of home-use flour products by 1-3 pct, starting with shipments on Jan. 4, 2019.

The prices of flour mixes, including those for Okonomiyaki pancakes and tempura, will also rise by 2-3 pct, the major flour milling company said.

The markups reflect an increase in the government's prices to sell imported wheat to domestic millers last month and soaring costs for distribution and wrapping materials, the company said.

It has already decided to raise the prices of flour products for industrial users, staring with shipments on Dec. 20.

In October, Nisshin Seifun Group Inc. <2002> said it will increase prices by 1-3 pct for home-use flour products and by 2-4 pct for flour mixes, both starting with shipments on Jan. 4. Prices for industry-use products will also rise.
