Hisense Aims for 10 Pct TV Market Share in Japan

Kawasaki, Kanagawa Pref., Nov. 13 (Jiji Press)--China's Hisense Group said Tuesday that it aims to raise its television market share in Japan to 10 pct by the end of 2019 from 7 pct at present, utilizing Toshiba Corp.'s <6502> technologies.

Hisense said it will launch a new TV model in Japan in early December featuring Toshiba's audiovisual technologies.

The new A6800 TV, the first product to be jointly developed with Toshiba Visual Solutions Corp., has a tuner that receives 4K ultrahigh-definition broadcasting.

Hisense earlier this year acquired Toshiba Visual Solutions, Toshiba's TV arm, based in Misawa, Aomori Prefecture.

At a news conference in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, south of Tokyo, Hisense Japan Corp. President Li Wenli said Japan's TV market is expected to grow sharply ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.
